These people are some of the most self disciplined people there are when it comes staying in shape enough to be able to finish this long race. They have to be tough and strong, mentally and physically. But as they were getting close to the finish line, today, their mental strongness must have left them as the explosions went off. Fear set in and took away all the toughness. Shock took over, sadness took over. They at that moment lost of their self confidence and became victims instead victors. I just can't imagine how it was for all the people there.
What causes someone to want to plant bombs in public places. What kind of hate, or fear, or jealousy or even sickness makes you want to try to kill completely innocent people? Seemingly just for the fun of it. Maybe they enjoy watching the fear on peoples faces, and they probably love watching the chaos that ensues.
Almost since the beginning of time we have been wondering why we have so much evilness in this world? How could anyone even think of some of the horrible acts that have gone on in this world?
John tried to answer this in John 3....
John 3:19-20
The Message (MSG)
19-21 “This is the crisis we’re in: God-light streamed into the world, but men and women everywhere ran for the darkness. They went for the darkness because they were not really interested in pleasing God. Everyone who makes a practice of doing evil, addicted to denial and illusion, hates God-light and
and won’t come near it, fearing a painful exposure.
Seems like we are helpless. Seems like so many want to run from the light of goodness and stay in the dark.
Philippians 4:6
The Message (MSG)
6-7 Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.
So...
What we can do first, is to pray for the injured and devastated from today's tragedy. Their loss is more than we can even know.
There will always be people like the evil ones we saw in action today. But we can also pray for them, and maybe we can turn this horrible darkness our world seems to be wallowing in into a lighter more forgiving, less judgemental, wholesome place to live in.
Then maybe our victims can end up the victors they were always meant to be!
Blessings!
